Specialisation

Project/ Study Management

Naval Architecture

Dynamic Response (to wind and waves)

Qualifications

BSc. (Hons) Mathematical Physics, Edinburgh University

MSc., Edinburgh University

Experience

Mr Fyfe's experience extends to more than 25 years in offshore and underwater technology.  He is involved in a wide range of engineering activities including studies of weather sensitive operations and risk based design methods.  He has participated in design, analysis and procurement of floating and fixed oil and gas production facilities.

His recent experience includes naval architecture and installation of jackets and topsides, both at hands-on and supervising levels.  He has developed software for dynamic response to wind loading, motion analysis and assessment of structural fatigue and has used several naval architecture packages for the design of floating systems.  This work relies heavily on the interpretation of metocean data for the assessment of operational weather windows or preparation of adverse weather procedures.

Mr Fyfe has additional experience in the following areas:

  • Planning and conducting model tests

  • On-bottom stability of pipelines

  • Simulation and control of underwater vehicles
